Website gives combination prices for gardens and zoo or gardens and aquarium. Are the gardens themselves free?

No, the gardens are not free. The botanical gardens and aquarium are on the same ticket. There is a combo ticket for all three plus a train ride between the locations
What would you suggest for a senior and two middle aged people to get the most out of Botanical Gardens and Aquarium? My mother is 79 and would love to go, but she is not able to do a whole lot of walking at once due to heart condition.

I am not 100 percent sure, but I think they have wheelchairs available at the entrance. I do not know if they are free or if there is a charge. But failing that, there are many shady nooks and seats around the park, where you can sit for a while alongside a pool, fountain, or water feature, or in the rose garden or other places. You do not have to rush around the whole area in one go. Take your time and enjoy it. You deserve it at your age.
