Twins place All-Star Byron Buxton on IL
Buxton's time on the IL will be retroactive to July 27 after leaving in the seventh inning of Saturday's loss to the Washington Nationals with left ribcage inflammation, according to team officials. It's his second time on the IL this season after missing 10 games back in May with a concussion.
Twins lose Byron Buxton to injured list with rib injury
Injuries to Pablo López, Bailey Ober and David Festa, plus the trade of Paddack on Monday, have left the starting rotation in flux. With Paddack gone — he has been scheduled to start on Tuesday — the Twins turned to rookie Pierson Ohl, who was making his major league debut.
Buxton exited after the sixth inning Saturday with left side soreness. He is scheduled to undergo medical imaging Sunday.
