Power outages due to Hurricane Milton minimal late Wednesday in Gainesville and Alachua County
According to a news release from the county, based on its current track, Hurricane Milton will start impacting the area as early as 7 p.m. Wednesday, but most impacts will likely occur late Wednesday into early Thursday morning. The storm is expected to leave the area by 9 a.m. Thursday.
Tropical storm watch issued for Alachua County ahead of Hurricane Milton
As of 8 p.m. Monday, Milton had maximum sustained winds of 180 mph and was moving east at 10 mph. The storm is about 650 miles from Florida.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - No storm-related injuries have been reported in Alachua County as more than 600 people sit in one of the four shelters across the county. About 1,400 people are still seeking shelter in Marion County. The city of Dunnellon in Marion lost power and one person was sent to the hospital after a tree fell on a home.
