State Department of Transportation crews are using radar to examine the soil within that hole and in the surrounding ground on which the interstate sits.

Hopes of reopening Interstate 80 quickly have been dashed. A section of the eastbound lanes remains closed due to a 40-foot sinkhole​, and it won't be an easy fix. CBS News New York's Nick Caloway reports.

This is the second time in recent months that drivers in the area are dealing with detours and delays, with the previous sinkhole forming in December and taking four days to repair.
