The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has upgraded a previous egg recall over salmonella concerns to a classification that brings the highest possible risk if consumed – and Michigan is one of the state's the tainted eggs were sold from.

The recall was originally announced Sept. 6 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and was upgraded Sept. 30 to Class I, a product that "will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has upgraded an ongoing egg recall to Class 1, its highest categorization, signaling the product may cause “serious adverse health consequences or death.”
