The Food and Drug Administration has upgraded an ongoing egg recall alert to Class I, meaning the recalled product "will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.” The recall was initiated in early September after eggs from Milo's Poultry Farms, LLC were found to have been potentially contaminated with salmonella.

The FDA has upgraded its ongoing egg recall to class 1, the most serious classification for recalls. More than 4 million eggs, supplied by Milo's Poultry Farms, were voluntarily recalled in early September due to potential Salmonella contamination.

The FDA announced that the recall of "Milo’s Poultry Farms" and "Tony’s Fresh Market" has been upgraded to Class I, meaning the eggs may cause serious health issues or death.

The recall was originally announced Sept. 6 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It was upgraded Sept. 30 to Class I.

On September 30, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) reclassified an ongoing egg recall to a "Class 1 recall" classification, which means that "a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.

If you have Milo's Poultry Farm eggs or Tony's Fresh Market eggs in your fridge, the FDA warns to throw them away immediately due to a serious salmonella contamination risk.

Iowa is one of nine states to report cases of salmonella after the Food and Drug Administration announced the egg recall in early September.
