The Spun on MSNNational Hurricane Center Issues 'Warning' For 4 Major StatesThe National Hurricane Center issued a warning for four major U.S. states on Monday morning. Heavy storms could be approaching part of the Gulf Coast this week. There is apparently an area of low localized pressure off of the east coast of Florida that could cause a disturbance later in the week.
A local meteorologist recalled how good forecasts during Hurricane Hugo in 1989 saved lives. Back then, federal forecasts gave 72 hours of warning with a 300-mile range of probable impact. Since then, with more data, forecasters routinely give five days of warning and a narrower 200-mile range of impact.
He's the director of the National Hurricane Center and took the reins just over a month before the start of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season. Michael Brennan joins us now.
