Fernando Tatis Jr. throws out runner at home; Padres score more in the first three innings than they had in the previous three games and then don’t score again

The Rays lost five of six before heading west, then dropped the opener at Arizona to fall a season-high five games under .500 at 9-14. But they’ve won the last four, including back-to-back wins over the Padres, who had been 12-1 at Petco Park before the Rays showed up.

Dylan Cease made the start for the Padres and surrendered a solo home run to Brandon Lowe in the top of the third inning. Xander Bogaerts made his second error in as many games allowing Junior Caminero to reach base. With two outs in the inning, Christopher Morel doubled to center field, which allowed Caminero to score to give Tampa Bay a 2-0 lead.
