President Donald Trump's administration on Thursday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to lift a lower court order that barred U.S. government agents from making immigration-related arrests in Los Angeles based on tactics that critics have called racial profiling.

The Justice Department called a lower-court order that limited the raids “a straitjacket" for law enforcement.

The Trump administration filed a petition to the Supreme Court on Thursday seeking a pause of a lower court’s restrictions on federal officials’ conduct of immigration operations in Southern California.
