Three former Virginia Beach deputies accused of second-degree murder in the death of Rolin Hill have turned themselves in, according to the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney.

All three deputies were charged with second-degree murder in the June 2024 death of inmate Rolin Hill. Two of the deputies also were indicted on assault charges.

Rolin Hill died less than a week after suffering a medical emergency at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.

The charges come after a special grand jury heard evidence regarding Mr. Hill’s arrest and booking into the Virginia Beach Correctional Center, according to the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office.

A 22-year-old Norfolk man has been charged with fatally shooting another man at a Virginia Beach business last week. The incident happened shortly after noon Dec. 30 at a business in the 5400 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard,

Rolin Hill died in June in custody at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center. A grand jury recently indicted three former sheriff's deputies in the death.
