More mosquitoes across New Orleans have tested positive for West Nile virus, city officials said Monday. This is at least the fifth time this year that health officials have confirmed the virus in local mosquito pools, following three detections in June and once in May.

The Allegheny County Health Department on Monday confirmed that additional mosquito samples have tested positive for West Nile Virus, and seven more Pittsburgh neighborhoods will be treated as a result.

Wayne County Health Department officials urge everyone to take precautions to avoid getting sick from West Nile and other mosquito-borne diseases.
