Four members of a Prince George's County-based labor union were onboard a plane that collided with an Army helicopter Wednesday in Washington D.C., and are now presumed dead, union leaders said in a social media post.

The ties to Boston conjured up painful memories for Nathan Birch, a Baltimore skater who grew up training at that very same club. He remembered seeing memorials from the 1961 crash, which killed several Boston club members, on the walls and in an upstairs lounge.

Seven local friends from Maryland tragically lost their lives in the D.C. plane crash as they were heading back from a hunting trip in Kansas.
