There are soon going to be many fewer Big Lots retailers locations across the country. The discount furniture and home goods retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September and is currently going through that restructuring process.

After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September, the home goods retailer has been working toward a "more focused footprint."

Discount furniture retailer Big Lots will close more Illinois stores than initially expected following a bankruptcy protection filing earlier this year, its website showed Friday.

Big Lots announces additional store closures, bringing the total to 315 nationwide due to bankruptcy and economic challenges.

The Columbus, Ohio-based company added 46 additional stores to the growing list of locations closing across the country, according to WBNS, the CBS affiliate in Columbus. Big Lots, which sells furniture, decor and other items filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in early September .

Big Lots is closing its Franklin location as the chain continues to feel impacts from a pullback in consumer spending and soft sales.

New Hampshire is losing two of its Big Lots stores. Big Lots, one of America's largest home discount retailers, announced in August plans to close over 300 locations, following an announcement before that they planned to close 30 to 40 stores. Now, another sweep of closures has been announced.
