An apartment caught fire Monday morning in Sacramento's New Era Park neighborhood, officials said. Fire crews were dispatched around 10 a.m. to a property on C Street near the intersection of 26th Street.

A central Sacramento apartment fire left two people injured and required several pets to be rescued, according to the Sacramento Fire Department. When fire crews arrived to the 2500 block of C Street they found heavy smoke emitting from the 2nd-story unit of an apartment building.

A vehicle caught fire and spread to a rice field in Sacramento on Monday afternoon, officials said. According to the Sacramento Fire Department, crews responded to the fire reported around 2:35 p.m. at West Elverta Road and Highway 99. Officials said forward progress was stopped as of 3:50 p.m., and the fire burned five acres.
