Titan, one of the Sedgwick County Zoo’s longtime elephants, is now at home at Zoo Atlanta. According to Zoo Atlanta, he arrived Wednesday. The Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ African Elephant Species Survival Plan recommended that he move to a new herd,

Titan, who the zoo says weighs more than 8,000 pounds, was born in Eswatini, an African nation near Mozambique. He and several other elephants were brought to the United States in 2016 as part of a multi-organizational rescue effort to save elephants impacted by drought conditions in the region.

"Having spent his juvenile years among a herd of females and other bull elephants at Sedgwick County Zoo, Titan learned important social skills from his herd-mates," the zoo said

One of Sedgwick County Zoo's long-time elephants is leaving soon. Titan will be sent to another zoo sometime before spring. This comes as the zoo prepares for the birth of five baby elephants this year.
