Monday's Famous Idaho Potato Bowl featured one of the strangest typographic errors in ESPN broadcast history. During Fresno State's bowl game against Northern Illinois, the ESPN graphic did not list Fresno State's mascot as the Bulldogs.

ESPN gave explanation why the spelling error was shown during the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl game between Fresno State and Northern Illinois. Throughout the broadcast Fresno State was refereed to as the “Bulldongs” instead of the Bulldogs.

The mistake was captured when Fresno State scored its first touchdown. The error continued during the game. Fresno State lost to Northern Illinois 28-20 in double overtime, snapping the Bulldogs’ six-bowl winning streak. It is unclear how and why the mistake happened.

The game's final minutes saw two missed go-ahead field goals, three quick overtime touchdowns, plenty of trick plays from NIU and a crushing, game-winning fourth-down sack.

Somebody running the graphics for ESPN’s coverage of the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl was having a rough day. The bowl game featured the Northern Illinois Huskies and the Fresno State Bulldogs, but on several occasions during the game, it seems Fresno State was given an unfortunate new nickname.

Freshman wide receiver George Dimopoulos threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Dane Pardridge on the first play of double overtime and Jordan Hansen ended the game on a fourth-down sack to give the Huskies a 28-20 victory over Fresno State.
