It's the most provocative pose we've seen in Starfleet.

"Star Trek: Lower Decks" has become one of the brightest lights in the franchise's constellation over the past five years and its final 10-episode season launches today, Oct. 24, on Paramount+ with a double-episode debut.

Lower Decks" season 5. In "Star Trek: Lower Decks" season 5, episode 2, "Shades of Green" (October 24, 2024), Lieutenant Boimler (Jack Quaid) has been assigned to command a team of ensigns as they collect and dispose of all the physical money on the planet Targalus IX.

Lower Decks' final season is here, and signifies a sweet addition to the 2024 TV schedule. While it's great that creator Mike McMahan promised a satisfying conclusion for the series, there's still optimism in regard to the show receiving a second life in some way.

When I spoke to McMahan recently, he explained that his goal for this final season was to wrap up the “Lower Decks era” of Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford, and Tendi’s lives, but not their overall stories.
