Former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an advanced stage of prostate cancer that has metastasized, or spread, to his bones.
Doctors not involved in Biden's care said his diagnoses shows the challenges of screening for prostate cancer.
“For an average risk person, which would mean not African American, and somebody that doesn’t not have a family history of prostate cancer, we generally recommend you get your first PSA around age 50,” Reninger said. Those with a family history of prostate cancer are encouraged to screen at 45 years or earlier.
