With Legally Blonde 3 reportedly in the works, a new television installment to the iconic franchise will soon be hitting our screens, too. Teaming up with Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production company, Amazon MGM Studios is working on a new prequel series that will focus on Elle Woods’s high school days.

Reese Witherspoon announced that Lexi Minetree has been cast as young Elle Woods in the "Legally Blonde" prequel series, "Elle."

Reese Witherspoon has just named the next Elle Woods and did it in a way that had actress Lexi Minetree thinking she just hallucinated.

The mom-of-three starred in the sequel to the romcom, “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde,” in 2003. While reflecting on the 20th anniversary of “Legally Blonde,” Witherspoon gushed over how the film change the course of her life.

Titled Elle, the Prime Video prequel series will follow the titular character in high school as we learn about the experiences that moulded her into the iconic young woman we first met in the 2001 film Legally Blonde and its 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde.

Reese Witherspoon, who portrayed the original Elle Woods, broke the casting news to Minetree in a video shared on social media Thursday.
