A witness in the Delphi murders trial described seeing a bloody, muddy man on the trail the day the victims disappeared.

Tuesday’s proceedings included an account of items found at the murder scene and testimony on the infamous “Bridge Guy” video.

A state’s witness testified that she saw a man, who later came to be known as “Bridge Guy,” covered in blood and mud on the day of the Delphi murders, but became combative during a tense cross-examination as the defense pointed out discrepancies between her testimony and her previous statements to police.

Day 5 of the Delphi Murders trial included testimony from a witness who claims to have seen "Bridge Guy," the day Abby Williams and Libby German went missing.

The teens, who were in eighth-grade at Delphi Community Middle School, were hiking on a day off from school on February 13, 2017, near the Monon High Bridge, an abandoned rail bridge along the 10-mile Delphi Historic Trail, Indiana State Police said. Hours later, they failed to meet Libby’s dad at a previously arranged time, police said.

Due to a labeling mix-up, a tip that defendant Richard Allen was seen on the Monon High Bridge on the day of the murders of Abigail Williams, 13, and Liberty "Libby" German, 14, in 2017, was not reviewed after September 2022.

As Day 6 of testimony in the Delphi murders trials began, the state began to lay the groundwork for its case against Richard Allen. Allen is charged with four counts of murder in connection with the February 2017 deaths of Abby Williams and Libby German near the Monon High Bridge.
