President Donald Trump announced on social media Tuesday night that $15.1 million in federal funding will be distributed in Indiana for tornado and flood relief efforts. In a post on Truth Social, which was then reposted on X,
Indiana is receiving $15.1 million in federal funds to help communities recover from the flooding and tornadoes that struck the state in the spring, and Gov. Mike Braun has appointed a task force to improve the state's emergency alert systems.
The National Weather Service said there were no injures or damage reported when the tornado touched down around 4:31 p.m. June 21.
This is the deadliest tornado in U.S. history. It killed 695 people and injured 2,027 others. It destroyed nearly every town it crossed, with a total of 15,000 homes wiped out. The damage dealt would be valued today at $3 billion.
EFU stands for Enhanced Fujita Unknown, meaning that the damage is too minimal to determine a rating or there's no assessable damage.
A flood advisory is now in effect for parts of Hamilton County, Ohio, and Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties in Kentucky along the Ohio River.
