Delivering another huge boost for musicals, Universal's Wicked took home the award for best cinematic and box office achievement at the 2025 Golden Globes after wowing audiences across the globe over the year-end holidays.

The newly-added award honors the "highest-earning and/or most-viewed films that have gained extensive global audience support and produced exceptional creative content."

Wicked continues to establish itself as one of the biggest box office forces of the entire year. Universal’s adaptation of the iconic Broadway musical has proven to be a massive theatrical hit, breaking several records over the month since it was released.

Wicked' led the December box office in the U.K. and Ireland, as the market reached a total gross of $1.31 billion for 2024.
