Commandant Linda Fagan had received bipartisan criticisms from members of Congress who accused the USCG of resisting oversight.

The commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard has been terminated amid border, recruitment concerns, "erosion of trust," a senior DHS official confirmed to Fox News.

According to Fox News, Fagan was dismissed from her role as U.S. Coast Guard Commandant by Acting Homeland Security Secretary Benjamine Huffman.

Homeland Security officials have removed Adm. Linda Fagan from her role as the Coast Guard’s commandant, according to a note sent to service members — the first firing of a top military officer under the Trump administration.

The Coast Guard will surge additional resources to the “Gulf of America” and several other locations, the service said in a statement Tuesday, after the Trump administration sacked its top admiral and alleged that she had failed to prioritize the security of U.S. borders.
