Shayne: Texas and Ohio State have had very different playoff journeys, but they ultimately have similar styles that should be fun to watch clash. Texas barely fended off a comeback from Arizona State a week ago, while Ohio State disposed of top-seeded Oregon in comfortable fashion.

Texas thrived on being able to take away the run and make Ohio State one-dimensional. It held Ohio State to just 81 rushing yards and 3.4 yards per carry. That was Ohio State’s third-lowest average per carry this season, limiting what the offense wanted to do because it lived behind the sticks.

After a difficult loss to Michigan, Ohio State has been a buzzsaw in its first two College Football Playoff games.

Ohio State and Texas will kick off the Cotton Bowl at 7:30 ET on Friday night from AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, and the game will be airing on ESPN. The Buckeyes are currently favored by 5.5 points.

It has been quite the ride through two games in the College Football Playoff for Ohio State with complete and total domination against Tennessee and Oregon. After the poor performance to end the season, some may have had a sliver of hope that the Buckeyes could make a run, but nobody could have seen this coming.
