Assistant U.S. Attorney Leah Belaire Foley has been appointed as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts by Acting Attorney General James McHenry, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on Tuesday.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Leah Belaire Foley was appointed to the position on Monday by Acting Attorney General James McHenry.

"Birthright citizenship in our country is a guarantee of equality, born out of a collective fight against oppression," Attorney General Andrea J. Campbell said in a statement.
