Stevie Mitchell scored 14 of his career-high 22 points in the second half to fuel No. 9 Marquette to a 78-69 victory over host Butler on Tuesday in Indianapolis.

The Huskies have lost three times since the first meeting with the Blue Demons, an 81-68 road victory. UConn is coming off a 76-72 loss to Xavier and have alternated wins and losses for their last six games since the first meeting with DePaul. The squad sits at 14-6 and is 6-3 in the conference, two games behind Marquette and St. John’s at the top.

Michigan State moved up one spot to No. 7 and was followed by the Vols, who balanced out their close loss to Auburn by beating No. 14 Mississippi State. Marquette and Purdue — which beat then-No. 21 Michigan — rounded out the top 10.
