The Los Angeles Chargers now have a future no one could’ve imagined as recently as the 2023 season thanks to the arrival of head coach Jim Harbaugh. He guided them to an 11-6 record and a playoff appearance last season,

GM Joe Horitz and the Chargers have a dilemma on their hands with Khalil Mack becoming a free agent this offseason.

Not ideal. Those Chargers are flush with cap space, sitting on roughly $63.4 million before any other cap-saving moves. The most obvious has direct ties to Mack – parting ways with Joey Bosa would free up roughly $25 million more, which the Chargers could shift over to Mack.

Despite the decreased output from the future Hall of Famer, both parties have remained in contact, and Los Angeles is hopeful that the two sides can come to terms. General manager Joe Hortiz believes that Mack may just want to explore free agency since he’s never had the chance in his career that spans over a decade.

Edge defender Khalil Mack has been a key member of the Chargers for the past few seasons. However, he is set to become a free agent, so it remains unknown whether he will be part of the team this upcoming season.

Khalil Mack‘s career will include at least one more season, but it remains to be seen where he will play in 2025. The former Defensive Player of the Year is on track for his first trip to free agency.
