Latvia’s foreign minister is warning that Russian President Vladimir Putin will try to achieve in peace talks what he hasn’t been able to accomplish in his war against Ukraine — weaken the United States and restore control over his smaller neighbor.

Concerns are growing on whether Russia will be willing to compromise on anything when it comes to peace negotiations surrounding its war with Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin and senior Russian officials have continued to reject US negotiating terms while demanding that Ukraine surrender territory that Russia does not occupy.
