Microsoft appointed Jay Parikh, a former Meta executive in charge of infrastructure, as its executive vice president for the new artificial intelligence engineering division.

The Redmond-headquartered company has been retooling its AI divisions over the past year, hiring former Inflection CEO Mustafa Suleyman to head Microsoft AI, which oversees the company’s AI-powered Copilot organization and other consumer products. Former Inflection chief scientist Karén Simonyan also left the startup for Microsoft.

The Core AI group is run by Jay Parikh and will focus on AI, and AI agents in particular. CEO Nadella sees this technology transforming applications.
