Barely two weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court limited the use of nationwide injunctions by federal judges, a federal judge once again blocked President Donald Trump's executive order on birthright citizenship from going into effect nationwide.

A federal district court in New Hampshire granted certification to a nationwide class and issued a preliminary injunction (PI) on July 10 that prevents the U.S. government from implementing Executive Order 14160.

In last month’s decision limiting one judicial tool, universal injunctions, the court seemed to invite lower courts to use class actions as an alternative.
