Over 100 flights from Heathrow were cancelled due to bad weather on Sunday, with another 80 expected to face severe delays throughout today – mostly short-haul domestic flights

Heathrow Airport has been forced to cancel as many as 90 flights as huge winds continue to batter the country, amid a number of weather warnings from the Met Office today

Saturday also saw disruption, with a number of ferries between Northern Ireland and Scotland cancelled, speed restrictions in place on some trains in Scotland, a "small number of flights" cancelled at Heathrow Airport due to "strong winds and airspace restrictions", and some road closures in exposed areas.

Winds of up to 82mph have been recorded in parts of the UK, as travellers hoping to get home for Christmas face further disruption with ferries, flights and trains cancelled due to bad weather. Heathrow Airport has confirmed around 100 flights have been cancelled on Sunday and passengers are advised to check with their airline before travelling.
