The Indian market closed lower on January 10 after a highly volatile session, with the Nifty falling below 23,350. The decline was driven by broad-based selling across sectors, except for IT stocks, which surged following TCS's better-than-expected Q3 results.

Indian equity benchmark indices, BSE Sensex and Nifty50, opened in green on Friday. While BSE Sensex was above 77,800, Nifty50 was above 23,550.

The Indian stock market opened flat on Friday as buying was seen in the IT sector after strong Q3 results of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which saw its stock jumping 3.7 per cent at Rs 4,186 apiece in early trade.
