In dire warnings already issued by the Met Office, the forecaster said 'injuries and danger to life are likely' as the nation is lashed by the huge storm.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain in Devon and Cornwall, as Storm Ashley is expected to batter the county with heavy rainfall in the early hours of Sunday morning (October 20). The weather warning is in effect from 3am until midday on Sunday and covers large areas of the south-west, including Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.
