BoydGaming and the Pamunkey Indian Tribe said in a joint statement: “We are excited to receive the City’s approval of our plans for a best-in-class casino resort on the Norfolk waterfront.
Two Norfolk city boards advanced plans this week ... comes just weeks after the Pamunkey Indian Tribe brought on BoydGaming, a Nevada-based casino operator, as its new partner.
This marks the third iteration of the project since Norfolk voters approved a casino gaming referendum in 2020. Earlier versions featured both full casino builds and temporary gaming concepts.
Norfolk's proposed casino is one step closer to being a reality. The city council approved the casino's design Tuesday night in a 7-1 vote, meaning construction can move forward.
