Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan was on Friday sentenced to 14 years in prison, and his wife Bushra Bibi to seven years behind bars in a case related to the misuse of authority and corruption involving Khan’s Al-Qadir University Project Trust.

In a landmark ruling, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been sentenced to 14 years in prison, and his wife Bushra Bibi has been handed a seven-year sentence in connection with the 190 million-pound Al-Qadir Trust case.

Imran Khan, also a World Cup-winning cricketer, was removed as prime minister in a no confidence vote in 2022. The 72-year-old has been in prison since August 2023.
