Portuguese number one Nuno Borges has said Wimbledon officials denied a request to wear a Portugal football shirt on to court in tribute to Diogo Jota, after the Liverpool star’s death in a car crash.

Lawyers for the group’s co-founder went to the Court of Appeal on Friday evening after losing a High Court bid for a temporary block on the ban.

The Chancellor warned there would be ‘costs to what happened’ as she faced questions about how she would cover the shortfall left by concessions.
