A tornado watch was in effect for much of Illinois, including the Chicago area, and Indiana Sunday afternoon. The tornado watch has since been dropped for all of Illinois, but remained in effect for all of Northwest Indiana as of 3:11 p.

Indianapolis and Central Indiana could be in for severe weather Sunday afternoon, with thunderstorms, hail and damaging winds possible.

The National Weather Service said a system that battered parts of the Midwest through the weekend could bring hail, thunderstorms and tornadoes.

A dangerous, wide-reaching storm will affect nearly the entire Eastern Seaboard Monday and is putting tens of millions of people in harm’s way after touching off several tornadoes, dropping baseball-sized hail and killing at least six people in the central US this weekend.

Forecasters warn of widespread damaging winds, very large hail and tornadoes, from Texas to the East Coast starting on Sunday.

Severe weather battered Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Indiana, damaging structures and downing trees.
