It’s time to head back to Walnut Grove 42 years later! According to a newly released Deadline article, Netflix has ordered a reboot of the beloved 1970s family drama Little House on the Prairie. This comes after the initial reboot announcement made by Paramount TV Studios and Anonymous Content in 2020.
News of the reboot comes days after Nielsen’s streaming report for 2024, which revealed that the original Little House is one of the most popular “legacy titles” on streaming, logging over 13 billion viewing minutes on Peacock. For Netflix, a Little House reboot will be like striking gold. Ballerina Farm must be shaking in her egg apron.
The original series was produced by Ed Friendly, while the reboot will be overseen by his son Trip under their Friendly Family Productions banner. The Boys writer-producer Rebecca Sonnenshine will act as showrunner.
The 1800s will be getting the 2020s treatment. Little House on the Prairie, the NBC show based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's memoir of the same name, will be remade for Netflix.
