Several major companies have followed suit as Trump expands his attacks on diversity initiatives to the private sector.

In a decision reflecting a broader trend in the corporate world, Google has eliminated its diversity-based hiring targets and quietly erased language relating to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) from its annual report.

Google is scrapping some of its diversity hiring targets, joining a lengthening list of U.S. companies that have been abandoning or scaling back their diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

Google is ending its diversity, equity, and inclusion hiring targeting following other major companies to do the same in response to President Donald Trump’s slew of executive orders curbing DEI. A Google spokeswoman told the Washington Examiner that the company no longer has specific hiring goals for representing certain groups.

With the Gemini family, Google is expanding its lineup of AI models to include an inexpensive option. Google has announced several big updates to Gemini, its family of artificial intelligence models.

Google has now given its Gemini app access to a new AI model called Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental. According to the announcement blog post, the company says this model is currently “ranked as the world’s best model” and is available at no cost.
