With more and more EVs popping up all the time, picking one can be a minefield. The Tesla Model 3 Long Range takes some serious beating though.

Tesla has discontinued sales of its Model 3 RWD base model version with LFP batteries in the U.S. Currently, only the long range versions and the performance Model 3 are available.

The new Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive car is also the most efficient Tesla built to date, managing an impressive 4.97m/kWh. That means on a smart energy tariff like E.ON Next Drive when you can charge at just 6.7p per kWh between the hours of midnight and 7am, the cost per 100 miles of travel will be just £1.35.

With the removal of the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Rear-Wheel Drive, the cheapest electric vehicle from the Texas-based automotive company is now the Model 3 Long-Range Rear-Wheel Drive variant. This features a base price of $42,500, which is $3,500 more expensive than the previous one.

The Tesla Model 3 has cracked 700km of driving range thanks to a new, cheaper Long Range variant, now on sale in the UK.

Occasional quality concerns aside, Teslas have always represented good value for money. This remains true with the Model Y, which starts at £46,990 for the single-motor model with 373 miles of range. The all-wheel-drive (331 miles) version costs an extra £5,000, while the much quicker Performance variant is priced from £59,990.

The Tesla Model 3 already has one of the longest ranges of any car in its class, but there’s a new Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive version that does exactly what its name suggests. Going on sale today, Tesla claims the new model will do 436 miles on a single charge.
