Baton Rouge mayor Sid Edwards said he was considering cutting 600 government jobs if his plan to redirect money from the parish library system doesn't pass.

Mayor-President Sid Edwards is updating the public on his new plan to revive Baton Rouge, which includes a major budget overhaul.

East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor Sid Edwards said on Tuesday that if his plan to rededicate parish library system funds to other areas is unsuccessful, the city-parish could cut around 600 jobs and reduce services.

President Sid Edwards said he wants to let voters decide on the proposal to move funds from the parish library system to the general fund at the polls in October. Edwards released a proposed plan on Feb.
