The Detroit Tigers were bested by the Kansas City Royals 4-3 Sunday afternoon after Bobby Witt Jr. hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the 10th inning.

Spencer Torkelson broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning with a towering three-run home run to left field to give starting pitcher Casey Mize some breathing room. Mize continued his dominant performance in his fourth start of the season, cruising through six innings before allowing a solo home run to Freddy Fermin in the seventh inning.

Tomás Nido and Andy Ibáñez hit solo homers and rookie Jackson Jobe pitched five strong innings to lead the Detroit Tigers to a 7-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
