A parade in Washington, D.C., commemorating the 250th anniversary of the armed services and coinciding with the birthday of President Donald Trump, kicked off Saturday with a grand showing of the military's power throughout the National Mall.

The parade marks the 250th anniversary of when the Continental Congress voted to create the Continental Army. It also happens to coincide with President Donald Trump's birthday.

Hours before the parade, a steady stream of people were queuing to get into the Army Birthday Festival on the National Mall. Many donned t-shirts with American flags, Army fatigues, insignia honoring military service and the occasional MAGA hat.
