There are a lot of talented cornerbacks around the NFL, but the New England Patriots happen to have one of the fastest rising stars at the position. Of course, that player is none other than Christian Gonzalez.

Hill caught six passes for 69 yards in the Dolphins win over the Patriots. With Gonzalez in coverage, Hill caught two of four targets for 34 yards. The Patriots second-year cornerback almost had an interception in one of those targets, but Hill knocked the ball out of his hands.

Sunday’s 15-10 loss to the Dolphins again saw Gonzalez hold his own against one of the top wideouts in the game in Tyreek Hill. Gonzalez recorded an interception, posted two pass breakups, and limited Hill to two receptions for 34 yards off of five targets in the Patriots’ loss.

With Christian Barmore and Ja’Whaun Bentley on the shelf and Jabrill Peppers facing an uncertain future, cornerback Christian Gonzalez has become the most important defensive player on the Patriots’ active roster.
